This will be a new annual event designed to present the works produced by the newest Colombian talent within the field of documentaries and short films with the aim of promoting cross-cultural understanding and raising awareness about struggles for peace in Colombia. CUSLAR plans to partner with other universities in the future to create a traveling film festival in order to give talented filmmakers the chance to show their work in a variety of venues. Works presented will explore elements of Colombian culture, people, politics, and social condition through the exploration of themes as varied as indigenous communities and womens’ rights movements, violence and civil strife, US-Colombian relations, racism, the Colombian peace communities, musical movements, and youth activism.

Nuestra Misión: Este festival fue creado con la idea de divulgar y promover los trabajos producidos por los nuevos valores Colombianos dentro del campo de los documentales y cortometrajes. La idea es poder ofrecer la oportunidad de exponer en el ámbito universitario internacional. La muestra se realizará cada año a partir de Marzo 31 del 2006 en la universidad de Cornell, que funcionará como base. En el momento estamos en busca de otras universidades que quieran adoptar el programa y decidan actuar como anfitriones de la muestra. De esta forma podremos rotar la muestra doce meses del año, dándole así mayor oportunidad de exposición a los participantes.
